Blijf houden van... & laat tegelijkertijd los...
Afgelopen week verscheen een EP van James Bay na zijn toffe 2de album uit 2018.
En hij performde deze week ‘n aantal keren via diverse media één van de 4 songs van deze EP.
Deze video van de nieuwe single BAD komt van “Live on the Today show”.
En je merkt dat ‘n singer-songwriter die samen schrijft met ‘n ander er weer net iets meer uithaalt zoals James Bay samen met Dan Wilson bekend van o.a. zijn co-writerschap met Adelé bij “Someone like you” of de radiohit Closing time van Semisonic.
Je hoort zijn stijl hier terug in deze pakkende song BAD; zie ook de lyrics in de video en onderaan de pagina. Dit nummer raakte me direct tijdens ‘n toevallige eerste luisterbeurt.

Ik herken me in de lyrics bij mijn “echte” exen (ex-lovers) en ook vrienden & vijanden uit het verleden soms ook in de tekst die heel ambivalent is en ook weer mooi dat je ondanks dat de relatie niet meer is zoals deze was, je e.e.a. wel kunt koesteren & mijmeren about LOVE die er is geweest.
Het woord "BAD" wordt in dit nummer gebruikt als een bijwoord om te beschrijven hoeveel “James” naar zijn ex-geliefde verlangt. Hoewel hij in deze song erkent dat hij nog steeds verliefd is, accepteert hij uiteindelijk ook dat "wat kapot is, wellicht niet meer “maakbaar” is.
